Gold for Sweden girls and Denmark boys at The NEVZA U19 Championships

The Danish Volleyball Federation, together with The Sports Schools in Ikast, have over the past three days conducted the NEVZA U19 Championships. After three days and 24 matches, between 4 boys teams and 7 girls teams, the final ranking of the teams was finalized.

In the girls final, last years champions from Sweden faced the team from Finland, who participated in the U19 championships for the first time. The two strong teams gave each other a tough and well played match. In the end the tall team from Sweden, lead by the talented outside hitter Isabelle Haak, was the strongest and won the match 3-1 after a very close finish in the 4th set.

The hosts from Denmark took the bronze after a 3-0 win from Norway. Iceland was placed 5th while England and Faroe Islands became no. 6 and 7.

In the boys tournament the hosts from Denmark played their neighbours from Sweden. In all three sets the two teams played very close up till the end of the sets. From that point the experienced Danish team took the lead and closed the three sets.

The bronze medal went for England who overcame Iceland in 4 sets.

The final results and nomination of the two Dream Teams, voted by the coaches.
